Local Outreach
The people of Oakbrook Church are actively engaged in bringing the gospel of the kingdom of God into the local communities of Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. These efforts include evangelistic outreaches, teaching ministries, prayer ministries, feeding and providing for the poor and homeless, performing construction, renovation, and landscaping services, and more. Specific examples of these outreaches include:
- Ministering to the men and women detained in the Loudoun County Work Release Program. This ministry teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ and counsels men and women preparing to reenter society upon completing their incarceration.
- Praying with and for the residents at the Cameron Glen Convalescent Home in Reston, VA.
- Participating in Fairfax County’s Hypothermia Prevention Program. Oakbrook volunteers joined with members of Church of the Epiphany Episcopal to provide food, shelter, and clothing for the homeless of Fairfax County.
- Providing food, clothing, and supplies for the homeless currently living in Reston, VA. These men and women have been denied access to the local homeless shelter and must live in tents in nearby forests. This ministry includes counseling, evangelism, and teaching the word of God.
- Performing landscaping services for the Missionaries of Charity, Mother Theresa’s order that is located in Northeast Washington, DC. This ministry also works to build relationships with and prays for the poor and infirm residents of the facility.
- Performing painting and construction services at the Fulton House, a home for women freed from drug abuse and prostitution in Northwest Washington, DC.
- Providing counseling, evangelism, and administrative services for Sanctity of Life Ministries, a pro-life ministry located in Fairfax, VA.
