World Missions
Oakbrook Church places great emphasis on responding joyfully and obediently to Christ’s Great Commission to His church (Matthew 28:18-20):
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Jesus has also taught us that the mission of carrying the gospel of the kingdom of heaven to the ends of the earth will be the mission of the church until the end of time (Matthew 24:14):
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
Over the past several years Oakbrook Church has sent short-term mission teams to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Togo, Benin, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Israel, Jordan, Siberia, India, Wales, Poland, and Ocean City, Maryland to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Oakbrook has also sent single missionaries on trips into New York City, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Peru, England, Wales, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Romania, Russia, Siberia, India, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Nepal, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, Australia, and New Zealand. Often, our missionaries are our “on fire” youth for Jesus!!!
These teams and individuals have performed numerous tasks and missions while in the field including:

- Performing public evangelistic dramas and outreaches
- Teaching and training of pastors and other church leaders
- Conducting evangelism, healing, and deliverance services
- Preaching in local churches and in public squares and marketplaces
- Visiting orphanages, hospitals, and jails to pray and extend mercy
- Leading intercessory prayer services
- Construction of churches, schools, homes, electrical systems, and sanitation systems
- Providing medical services in hospitals and mobile clinics
- Providing and fitting victims with prosthetic limbs in war-torn regions
Oakbrook Church also possesses special personal relationships with missionaries serving in Togo and Benin, Guatemala, and India. We send these missionaries financial support and regularly send out short-term mission teams to support their growing ministries.
One of these special relationships is with John and Sharon Harvey, missionaries among the Mayan people living in the northern highlands of Guatemala. You can learn more about the Harvey’s, the ASELSI mission, and their ministry in Guatemala at http://www.aselsi.org.
