Scott Johnson (Lead Pastor)

Scott’s heart desire is to see people come to know and delight in God through Jesus Christ. He truly gets excited when people come to know and love Jesus. Scott’s teaching is Biblical and theologically precise, blending humor with hard-hitting truth.

A graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological School, Scott has thirty-five years of ministry experience as well as extensive cross-cultural experience. Scott and Rebecca have three married children and three grandchildren all living in the Washington, DC area. A psychiatric nurse by profession, Rebecca often travels and teaches with Scott.

John Moyle (Pastor of Youth, Missions, and Social Justice)

John has served as Oakbrook’s Pastor of Missions and Social Justice since March, 2012. In this capacity, he oversees the many community, national, and international outreaches of the church. He has personally led fifteen different short-term mission teams sent out from the church, including eleven trips into the northern highlands of Guatemala. He has ministered in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Togo, and the West Bank of Israel-Palestine. In addition, he has ministered locally with troubled youth in the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center and with the local Hispanic day laborer community in a ministry called “Lunch for the Soul.” Since 2011, he has been actively involved in peacemaking and reconciliation ministries on the ground in Israel-Palestine.
 
Recently, John has taken role of Youth Pastor.
 

John served as the Senior Pastor of Oakbrook Church from 2006–2012 and has been a member of the pastoral staff since 2003.

John is married to the former Jenna Ecker since 1998. They have three children: Samuel, Matthew, and Kaylin. In his free time, he coaches Samuel’s youth tackle football team, the Herndon Hornets. He is fluent in Spanish.

Rich Schryber (Pastor of Family Life)

Rick’s ministry focuses on the well-being of the Christian family. This includes marriage counseling, parent-children counseling, and other pastoral care related to family life.

When not ministering, Rick is a Senior Project Manager with ADI Construction, Inc. and is also a successful coach for girls’ youth soccer.

Rick is married to Wendy. They have three children; Jessica, David Cole, and Abbie, and a son-in-law, Jonathan.

David Hoppel (Associate Pastor & Worship Leader)

David became Oakbrook’s Worship Leader in March, 2012 and worked as Youth Pastor in August, 2013. As of May 2016, he oversees various ministries such as young adults and hospitality. 
 
In October 2014, David began his online Masters of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary. He will be finished in Spring of 2018. 
 
David is married to Haven. They have one child; James Alexander.
